Lincoln Electric FlexCut 65 vs. FlexCut 125
The FlexCut 65 and FlexCut 125 serve different cutting requirements. Compare the mild-steel thickness and speed ratings together, then check power, air supply and the exact handheld or mechanized package.
Compare cutting thickness at the stated speed
The table below uses Lincoln Electric product-information sheets E11.715 for the FlexCut 65 and E11.730 for the FlexCut 125. These are published mild-steel ratings, not results from testing by this store. Do not apply them unchanged to other materials or treat severance capacity as the recommended production-cutting rating.
| Rating | FlexCut 65 | FlexCut 125 |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum cutting current | 65 A | 125 A |
| Recommended thickness / speed | 3/4 in. at 20 in./min. | 1 1/2 in. at 15 in./min. |
| Maximum thickness / speed | 1 in. at 10 in./min. | 1 3/4 in. at 10 in./min. |
| Severance thickness / speed | 1 1/4 in. at 5 in./min. | 2 1/4 in. at 5 in./min. |
| Published pierce thickness | 5/8 in. | 1 in. |
A thicker stated cut at a slower travel speed is a different operating point. Keep both values in your comparison rather than ranking machines by thickness alone.
Which model belongs on your shortlist?
Consider the FlexCut 65 when its documented cutting envelope fits your material and work. Its sheet lists applications including general fabrication, maintenance and repair. Compare the FlexCut 125 when you need to investigate the heavier mild-steel capacities in the table; its listed applications include heavy fabrication and construction.
These are selection starting points, not a guarantee that either machine meets a particular job. Confirm the required cut quality, thickness, travel speed, working pattern and site services against the matching manual and cutting charts.
Choose the correct package version
This comparison links to the handheld Ready-Pak versions: K5825-H for the FlexCut 65 and K5828-H for the FlexCut 125. The manufacturer also identifies separate -M mechanized and -PS power-source configurations. A handheld package must not be described as containing the mechanized torch simply because the power source supports mechanized applications.
The manufacturer's package tables identify a handheld torch, work clamp and cable, input cord, air filter and handheld consumable kit for the -H configurations. Check the individual listing and current package documentation before ordering. No CNC table is represented here as an included item.
Check your power, air and torch requirements
- Electrical supply: confirm exact voltage, phase, frequency and installation requirements from the matching operator manual. This guide does not provide breaker or wiring sizes.
- Air or gas service: verify the required supply quality, pressure and flow for the model and operation. Compressor suitability cannot be determined from tank capacity or a pressure figure alone.
- Torch configuration: match handheld or mechanized use, cable length and the specified consumables. FlexConnect compatibility does not make every torch head, consumable or CNC interface universally interchangeable.
- Working pattern: check rated output and duty cycle under the specified conditions. Maximum current is not a continuous-output rating.
Before arranging installation or handling, confirm the electrical ratings and machine weight for your exact configuration against its rating plate and operator manual.

Common questions
Is the maximum severance rating the recommended cutting capacity?
No. Lincoln Electric lists recommended, maximum and severance ratings separately. For example, FlexCut 65 is recommended for 3/4-in. mild steel at 20 in./min.; its 1 1/4-in. severance rating is stated at 5 in./min.
Does the handheld Ready-Pak include a mechanized torch?
The manufacturer distinguishes -H handheld and -M mechanized packages. Check the exact package; mechanized capability does not establish that a mechanized torch is supplied with a handheld kit.
Do these thickness ratings apply to every metal?
The comparison table is specifically for mild steel. Use the appropriate material-specific cutting charts and consumables for other work.
Is FlexCut 125 automatically the better choice?
No. Start with the required cut and work rate, then check site power, air supply and package compatibility. The larger cutting envelope may be unnecessary for your application.
